REVELLING IN THE ATOMIC SUNRISE

9 – 15 March 1970

The Atomic Sunrise festival was a week-long festival that took place in March 1970. It was a collaboration between regular performers at the Sunday Implosion gigs and The Living Theatre, a radical experimental theatre company. Living Theatre performers moved amongst the people dancing, whilst a varied line up of bands played onstage including Genesis and David Bowie with his band at the time, The Hype.

These shots taken by Tom Busby, give a flavour of what it was like at the psychedelic festival, where people came to dance, let go and experiment.
